Lunchbox seals that can be removed and cleaned
A seal needs the right shape, a clean seating channel and the correct lid around it.

Identify the part before removing it
Some lunchbox seals are designed to be taken out for cleaning; others are fixed or integrated into a component. Read the instructions for the exact model. Do not prise out a ring simply because it resembles a removable one in a video.
If removal is permitted, note how it sits and follow the maker's method for replacing it. A twisted or incorrectly seated seal may prevent the lid closing as intended. Avoid stretching it or using sharp tools that could damage the part or its channel.
Look at the whole closure
A leak is not always a seal problem. Clips, lid shape, damage and the way the container is filled can also matter. Check the product's intended use and orientation. A box designed for dry food does not become suitable for liquids merely because a new ring is added.
Inspect the lid and body for damage. If a closure no longer behaves normally, stop relying on it for spill-sensitive carrying and ask the manufacturer about the appropriate remedy. Do not add tape, glue or an unrelated gasket as a permanent repair around food-contact parts.
Clean the channel as instructed
Food can collect beneath a removable seal or in the groove it occupies. Clean and dry the components according to their individual instructions. The body may tolerate a washing method that the seal or lid does not, so do not transfer one component's permission to the whole set.
Let parts dry appropriately before reassembly and storage. Keep small seals where they will not be lost among washing-up or confused with those from another container. If several models are used in the household, a simple model note can prevent near-matching parts being swapped.
Order by model, not colour
Find the manufacturer's part reference and check availability through a reliable source. Two rings can look identical in a photograph while having different profiles or dimensions. Keep the packaging until the replacement is confirmed correct.
After fitting an authorised replacement, follow the maker's checks before trusting it on a commute. Carry the box as instructed and protect belongings that could be damaged by an unexpected leak. A seal is a small component, but its usefulness depends on the complete container being suitable, clean and correctly assembled.
